Spear Warrior Question
I'm thinking about making my Warrior use a spear for a while just to spice PvE up abit so I was thinking of using 16 strength with a 20% Sundering mod. All I need to know as I can't seem to find anywhere is do the two stack? I don't want to spend a load of gold and find out they don't because I'm hoping that 36% AP with something like Frenzy and "Go for the eyes" would be an effective damage dealer.
So does Strength and the sundering mod stack?

yes they will stack. I really don't think that a strength spear chucker is gonna do much. if you want to pump out some damage with a spear, go ranger and get cheaper spear attacks with expertise.

For Nightfall, I played a Spear Warrior from Consulate to Gate of Torment. And here's how sundering works.
Sundering on weapons is effective during regular attacks.
Strength Sundering is only effective when using skills.
When you use an Attack Skill with a Sundering Weapon, the Sundering inherent with Strength will only occur if the Sundering on the weapon does not occur.
Keep in mind, Sundering weapons only have a 20% chance OF sundering.
Since it is impossible to have 20 Strength, If your Sundering weapon decides to be Sundering while you use your attack skill, the game gives that skill 20% AP, from the weapon, because it's bigger.
However, if it does not decide to trigger the Sundering, then your Strength Value sundering will occur instead.
They will not stack, but you will always have some degree of sundering for your attack skills.
Unless they changed Sundering (The way it works, not the whole 10/10 to 20/20 crap) since I did tests last November....
Oh, and, I used this for my build, pretty much the whole time
15 Str, 12 Spear
Barbed spear
Wild Throw
The Elite Spear Attack that does Deep Wound if target is standing still
Spear of Lightning
Flail (GODLY for Spear Warriors. Str Req skill AND you stand in one spot. Constant 33% with no risk)
For Great Justice (Can alternate to whatever you like, if you wish)
Capture Signet (You could put something else in here if you wanted, too)
RezSig
Worked great. I slaughtered. Signet of Strength is an excellent alternatable skill for either FGJ! or CapSig, btw. Rush/Sprint are also viable choices.

Was thinking along the lines of the adrenaline skills and the purpose it to get a different experience with my warrior not some uber spear build.

Thanks for explaining how sundering and strength works, I think I'll just skip the sundering mod all together and use the preorder spear and play around with different stances.

Good plan. Besides, Vamp does more damage than Sundering any day of the week. And it heals you.

Been playing with my Spear Warrior for a while now and I have to say I'm quite surprised how suited the Warrior class is to Spear mastery, I'm using a build very similar to yours:
Watch Yourself (can't think of a warrior build I use that doesn't have this on)
Mighty Throw
Blazing Spear
Cruel Spear (the elite you mentioned)
Spear of lightning
Frenzy (haven't got Flail yet)
Heal Sig
Rez Sig
I had tried "Go for the Eyes" but only with adrenaline skills so I couldn't follow it up with a attack skill, might try that with Spear of lightning though. Overall Spears and warriors work, I like to use my Paragon for shouts and chants so using my warrior for spears attacks means I don't miss out on them. Although I still love my hammer

There's a Shambling Mesa (Whatever the big huge earth guys are) Warrior Boss in Jahai (relatively early-on) that I capped Flail from (He had Deva Hammer, and Flail is awesome, so it was worth a capsig.).
You could try that.
I found the casttime on Mighty Throw to be annoying. And bleeding is awesome. I'll try Blazing instead of Wild, might work nice.
And swithcing Lightning for Disrupting is always a good call for certain situations.

This is misinformation.
go to the isle of the nameless and wild blow 60 al dummies with a medium ammount of strength and a sundering weapon until the sunering kicks in. raise your strength more and do it again. did you do more damage when the sundering hit than before?

I will check again, but I'm pretty sure this is incorrect. IIRC, sundering mods are +20% armor penetration, and stack with strength. You can test this with wild blow and a sundering weapon with varying amounts of strength. If sundering does not stack with strength, the damage when the sundering triggers should remain constant for all values of strength. If they do stack, the damage will vary with strength.

They'll negate the +20 from physical that enemy warriors get, though.

There is NO POINT whatsoever in having a w/p "spear thrower" if you want damage. A Paragon with 16 spear compared to a Warrior with 15 str + 12 spear (or watever) will do WAY more damage. Remeber kids, strength = worst primary attribute in the game (not considering skills). It does bollox all for adding damage. "z0mgz0rs armor penatration FTW!!11!" yea great...extra 15% ap...

15% AP doesn't trigger unless skills are used.
